Vigdis Hansa Elst
Biography
Training
Vigdis Hansa Elst (born 1991) obtained her master's degree in classical composition at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with Wim Henderickx and Luc Van Hove in June 2018.
Composer
In her current repertoire, we find many vocal works, both chamber music and choral works, in jazz and classical line-ups or combinations. Her orchestral work Caterpillar in machine was performed by the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra in the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Antwerp. At the end of 2018, she published her first publication: the choral work How Sweet the Moonlight for SSA and piano was published by Euprint ed. and premiered by Vocal Ensemble Caloroso, for whom she is currently working on several new pieces. Music theatre is also an important aspect of Vigdis' oeuvre, with her graduation project Bloot, in collaboration with Muziektheater Transparant, and her music room VAL, which she created for Zonzo Compagnie's Big Bang Festival, as highlights.
Lyricist
In addition to music, Vigdis also writes her own lyrics and not only for musical purposes. In 2014, she won the third prize in the Antwerp qualifying round of Write Now!, the biggest writing competition in the Dutch language area.
Performer
As a performer and singer, Vigdis has performed on various stages at home and abroad with her own projects, such as VAL.
